Frequently Asked Questions

How is TopTradingTools.com different from other trading education websites?

We are different in several key ways.  First, TopTradingTools.com employs a trading strategy designed from two time star search winning hedge fund manager Mark Helweg.  Second, we teach an approach to trading the combines the strengths of discretionary chart pattern and setup identification (a skill we will teach you) with rule-based trading strategies (technology available on TopTradingTools.com).

Does TopTradingTools guarantee results?

No. Nobody who trades in the markets is guaranteed to win, despite what some people say.  Our goal is to always shoot straight with you.  However, as a retired award winning hedge fund manager we believe that we can help you become a profitable trader if you are willing to put in the time and hard work.  Remember, successful trading is about probabilities.

How many shares should I buy when I trade?

This will depend on your account size and your risk tolerance.  We cannot advise you on how much risk is appropriate for your situation as we are not registered to give you personalized advice.  However, in general, many people advise risking around 1% per trade.

Is trading risky?

Yes, trading is risky.  Our goal however is to help you learn to manage and minimize your risk when trading.  When you trade, you are speculating and exposing your money to both the potential for gain and to the risk of loss.  There is a risk of loss when trading any market.  You have the potential to make a lot of money and you have the potential to lose all of the money in your account.  You need to be sure that the money you are trading with is speculative capital – capital that you can expose to the risk of loss.  Make no mistake, however, our goal at TopTradingTools.com is to help you make money trading over time.

When I look at my charts, my analysis forecasts a move in the opposite direction of your analysis.  What should I do?

Remember, you don’t have to take our advice if you disagree with our forecast.  Also, keep in mind that you may be analyzing a different time interval than we are.

How do I best use TopTradingTools to learn to trade?

We recommend that you adopt our framework for trading which involves you learning to identify chart patterns and setups where you have an expected edge, and then you strategically applying well-tested trading strategies at defined points in time.  Review your charts every night for an hour.  You will be shocked at how this powerful habit can help your trading.  Attend our webinars and workshops as well.  They are designed to accelerate your learning curve.
